Tata Global Beverages Ltd. announced its results for the quarter ended September 30, 2011 this evening

CONSOLIDATED : Consolidated operating income for the quarter at Rs 1630 crores up by 12%.

Consolidated Group net profit for the quarter at Rs 77 crores up 49%

STANDALONE : Total operating Income for the quarter at Rs 511 crores up by 14%.

Profit after tax for the quarter at Rs 50 crores up 66%

Tata Global Beverages Ltd. announced its results for the quarter ended September 30, 2011 this evening.

In India, we continue to be leaders in volume and now have value leadership as well. The recent Tata Tea Premium and Tata Tea Gold marketing campaigns have resonated well with customers and increased brand pull. In Great Britain, we continue to grow ahead of the market in specialty categories and are now the market leaders in Tetley Green and Tetley Red Bush. New media campaigns for Tetley include the iconic ‘Tea Folk’ to support black tea as well as the specialty category. Tetley Chai Latte, an exciting new product combining both coffee and tea has been launched in Australia. New Chai blends, Dark chocolate vanilla bean, Perk high caffeine-orange pekoe, Green Pomegranate launched in Canada.

The Company’s Consolidated total operating income for the quarter was Rs. 1630 crores was 12% higher as compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, reflecting improved performance in most major markets also aided by the impact of price increases in some markets. The group consolidated net profit for the quarter at Rs 77 crores is significantly higher than the corresponding period of the prior year mainly due to improved operating performance and favourable impact of exceptional items and lower interest costs which is partially offsetting the impact of commodity cost increases.

In the stand alone Tata Global Beverages Ltd results for the quarter, the total operating income at Rs 511 crores reflects a growth of 14% driven primarily by improved performance in the Branded Tea operations. Profit after Tax at Rs 50 crores is substantially higher compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous year attributable to improvement in operations, lower interest costs and favourable impact of exceptional items.
