Tata Global Beverages and Portuguese Distributor Delta have just launched an exciting new business venture to devise and create a range of Tetley branded infusions, which complement their new Delta Q coffee pod machines and coffee range. The new capsule based Tetley tea pods were launched at the end of October in three different varieties; Relax (Camomile & Peach), Delight (Rooibos Strawberry & Vanilla), and Refresh (Ginger Mint).

Delta has been the Tetley distributor in Portugal for the last 3 years and has been instrumental in the success of the Tetley brand which currently has a 21% share of the hot tea retail market in Portugal. The exciting new capsule format will really enhance the Tetley range and consumer offering as well as help to establish the brand in new areas.

“Delta Q is a pioneering project for us. It is the first time that Tetley has transferred their Tea expertise and heritage to the capsule system in an effort to connect with consumers and respond to their needs and habits. With Delta Q, quality, technical know-how and convenience go hand by hand. We’ve put lots of effort and passion to this project, and we are confident of its success” Commercial Manager Peter Haigh.

The co-branded tea venture is aimed at diversifying both Tetley and Delta’s portfolio and offering products that differentiate from competitors that currently do not offer tea in this ‘pod’ format. Tetley will supply the raw materials for Delta to manufacture the pods and the range will be distributed and marketed initially in Portugal, alongside their existing range of 7 coffee capsule sku’s.

This is a great example of Tata Global Beverages working with a key partner to drive value and innovation into the tea category. It is anticipated that on average over 10 million servings will be sold across the three flavours.
